The observation deck on the Sparrow Hills is perhaps the most famous observation point in Moscow. It can be reached by metro, having reached the Vorobyovy Gory station (the first car from the center) and having overcome a long ascent. Of course, you can’t compare with the Caucasus, but on the average Russian scale it’s quite a mountain for yourself: 0) You can also get to the Universitet metro station - you won’t even have to overcome the ascent. . However, Muscovites usually get here, celebrating the weddings of their friends, and guests of the capital - on buses with excursions.

Across the river you can see the huge Luzhniki stadium. The opening ceremony of the 1980 Olympics was held at this stadium and Viktor Tsoi gave one of the last concerts. It is here that Spartak Moscow is holding home games now. On match days, you can find me on the A5 stand.

On the left hand rises a huge business complex

The 40-story Skyscrapers on Begovaya (on the right) are lost compared to the whopper City

On the right hand side you can see the building of the Academy of Sciences, the Vorobyovy Gory metro station on a two-tier bridge and the Shukhov TV tower.

All this adds up to a wonderful panorama, which can be seen by clicking on the following photo.

On the left in the picture is a building under construction, dubbed "The Heart of Moscow" - a red lantern with several floors in it pulsates like a heart. Then you can see the already mentioned Moscow-City complex. A little to the right are barely visible at night - the skyscrapers on Begovaya and the bright lights of the Third Transport Ring. Next you can see the Stalin skyscraper of the hotel Ukraine. Between two smoking chimneys distinguish the needle of the Ostankino tower, at the second chimney the White House of the government. To the right of the famous house - a high-rise book on Kudrinskaya Square, better known as the house on Barrikadnaya. A little to the right and lower in the photo is the white candle of the bell tower of the Novodevichy Convent. The next vertical line visible to the eye is the powerful skyscraper of the Foreign Ministry building. In the center behind the large sports arena of Luzhniki, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and the bell tower of the Ivan the Great Moscow Kremlin rise. True, it is already quite difficult to distinguish the bell tower at night. Another visible Stalin skyscraper from the Sparrow Hills is the skyscraper on Kotelnicheskaya Embankment, it is slightly to the right of the stadium. In the right part of the image is the slightly illuminated Shukhov Tower, known for the New Year's “Blue” lights and the already mentioned building of the Academy of Sciences. Under it is a bridge with a metro station, and in the right corner of the picture you can see the springboard arc. I think an attentive eye will find more familiar buildings. They say that even in the daytime, from here you can see the house in which Ravshan and Dzhamshut from Our Rashi repaired their first apartment in the very first season of the series ...

Not far from the observation deck, the Trinity Church of the Life-Giving Church on the Sparrow Hills has settled down. The history of this church is connected with the village of Vorobyovo, which existed here already in the middle of the 15th century, by whose name this area was named. The church miraculously managed to avoid the fate of many other Moscow churches in Soviet times. And to this day, she continues to delight everyone with a bell ringing, which in the evenings spreads over the slopes of the Moscow River.

And opposite the observation deck of the Sparrow Hills stands the main building of Moscow State University

This skyscraper was erected at the suggestion of Stalin in 1949-1953 by architects B. M. Iofan, L. V. Rudnev, S. E. Chernyshev, P. V. Abrosimov, A. F. Khryakov and V. N. Nasonov.

At the time of construction, the building was the highest in Moscow; its height, together with the spire, is 240 meters.

This is probably worth finishing the photo walk - because the batteries of the camera and the fingers quickly freeze on a winter night: 0) I hope in the future we will be able to continue the story of the Vorobyovy Gory and the Moscow State University with new photos.

The observation deck, which is located on the Sparrow Hills, is probably the most popular observation point of the capital, in addition, it is the highest point of the city.

The Sparrow Hills overlook the Luzhniki Stadium, the business center of the city, Moscow City, the Academy of Sciences, the Vorobyovy Gory metro station. Also from the observation platform you can see the Shukhov TV tower. All of these views are magnificent panoramas.

Opposite the observation deck is the building of Moscow State University.

How to get to Sparrow Hills

There are several ways to get to Sparrow Hills.

By taxi

The easiest and most convenient option is to order a taxi. Of course, this method will be the most expensive. But the advantages are obvious: you don’t have to look on the map for the necessary public transport stop, a suitable metro line.

The observation deck itself is located on the top of the mountain, which can only be reached on its own. Given the original location, such an excursion can be quite expensive.

Metro

The second option to get to the observation deck is the subway.

  • You need to get to the station "Okhotny Ryad", which is located on the Sokolnicheskaya line. Near this station is Red Square. From the square you can get to the Sparrow Hills on a special sightseeing bus.
  • Also, special buses run from Kalanchevskaya Square and from the Komsomolskaya metro station, which is also located on the red line.
  • There is a third option to take the subway to the observation deck. You need to go to the Vorobyovy Gory station (red line), and then climb the mountain on foot.

On the water bus

The third option to get to the observation deck is from the Moscow River. This can be done by initially organizing a river bus ride along the Moscow River, then it will land at the pier and climb the mountain on foot.

The most difficult thing in this way is a difficult climb. Especially for those who do not have enough physical strength to lift, they built a funicular on which you can quickly and effortlessly reach your destination.

In order to get to the river station (from which river buses leave), you need to take the Zamoskvoretskaya metro line and get off at the Rechnoy Vokzal station.

By bus

You can get to the Sparrow Hills and by bus. To do this, you need to get to the Universitet metro station (located on the Sokolnicheskaya line). And from the metro, transfer to bus No. 661 and get to the Moscow State University stop. From the stop, get to the observation deck on foot. The bus stop "University" can be reached by tram number 14, number 26, number 39.

There are other buses that go through the MSU stop. This bus number 113 (from the metro station "Profsoyuznaya" located on the Kaluga - Riga line), number 119 from the Kiev station, number 57 from the street Ozernaya (metro station "Kakhovskaya" located on the Kakhovskaya line) and bus number 111 from Kaluga Square .

On a trolley bus

The fifth way to get to the Sparrow Hills is to take a trolley bus.

Route number 7 goes to the observation deck. You can catch a trolley at the Kiev station, and the whole route runs from Victory Park to Kaluga Square, that is, the Vorobyovy Gory is an intermediate stop.

After the most convenient and optimal way to get to the observation deck is selected, you must remember to calculate the time, given the traffic in the capital. You can spend a lot of time just standing in traffic. Therefore, it is better to calculate the route in advance.

Vorobyovy Gory is one of the main attractions of Moscow. Not only guests come there, but also residents of the city, who can also help to orient and show how to get to the right place.

One of the most famous park areas in Moscow is a favorite vacation spot for students, bikers, honeymooners and tourists. Here are located, offering a panoramic view of the whole of Moscow, and the symbol of the Stalinist Empire - the main building of Moscow University.

In the Middle Ages, several villages were located at this place. One of them, Vorobyevo, stood on the present territory of the university. Today, the preserved church of the Life-Giving Trinity recalls the village. In 1453, these lands were bought by Princess Sophia, wife of the Moscow Prince Vasily I, and they entered the royal estates. Prince Vasily III loved this place very much, often visited it and, according to legend, even hid here from the Crimean Khan Devlet Giray, who attacked Moscow in 1521. And in 1547, in this village, he and his family took refuge from the Moscow fire.

Observation deck

From the observation deck of the Sparrow Hills, located at an altitude of 80 m above sea level, an excellent panorama of the city opens. Trinity Church

The Church of the Life-Giving Trinity is the only reminder of the village of Vorobyevo that was once located here. At first it was wooden, but at the end of the XVIII century. at the direction of Catherine II, a new empire church was built in its place under the leadership of architect Karl Vitberg. The temple is operating, located in close proximity to the observation deck. The bell tower, the main volume and the gallery connecting them are on the same axis, that is, the temple was built by a “ship”. The temple building ends with a large drum with a dome resembling a rotunda, which is quite typical for empire buildings. However, inside the church has not a round, but a quadrangular configuration. Outside, it is decorated with columns of the Tuscan order, pilasters and murals.

St. Andrew's Monastery

At the foot of the Sparrow Hills is located St. Andrew’s Monastery. It was founded in the XVII century. a favorite of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich Fedor Rtishchev in honor of the liberation of Moscow from the invasion of the Crimean Khan Kazy Giray. Since this happened on the day of the memory of the martyr Andrei Stratilat, the monastery was consecrated. The original gate temple was wooden, and in 1675 it was rebuilt in stone. Especially noteworthy are the tiles made by Belarusian masters of "valuable" work, among which was the famous Stepan Polubes. Later another stone structure appeared - the Church of the Resurrection of Christ. Today on the territory of the monastery you can see the bell tower, which got its modern look in the middle of the XIX century. Throughout the XIX century. farm buildings were built around these three buildings.

The lands with the royal residence and the monastic settlement were alternately owned by several famous noble families - Saltykov, Dolgorukov, Yusupov, as well as Count Matvey Dmitriev-Mamonov, in whose honor the manor house is often called the “Mamonova Dacha”. By the name of the first owner of the Dolgorukov clan, the entire estate was named Vasilyevskoye. Noisy social life flowed here, many guests came, gardens with exotic plants grew around the house. The building of the main house in the Empire style, which can be seen now, most likely belongs to the authorship of the architect Osip Bove, who built a lot in Moscow after the fire of the war of 1812. Its main feature is the presence of a large domed rotunda. On the facade, it is highlighted with a mezzanine and a six-column portico of the ionic order. Belvedere towers, crowning two manor outhouses, have something in common with the rotunda. The house is harmoniously integrated into the environment: standing on a hill, it allowed guests and owners to enjoy the panorama of Moscow. Now the Institute of Chemical Physics is located in this building.

The main building of Moscow State University

In the second quarter of the XX century. Vorobyovy Gory was renamed to Lenin. It was here that one of the most famous Moscow buildings of the Stalin era was built - the Main building of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov. It was built from 1949 to 1953, and was completed after the death of Stalin. Its architects were Boris Iofan, Lev Rudnev and Sergey Chernyshev; Vera Mukhina was engaged in sculpture on the facades, who initially planned to put her famous composition “Worker and Collective Farm Girl” in front of the building.

The main building of Moscow State University is one of seven embodied. Its height, together with the spire, is 240 m. Despite the difficult soils, the Main Building stands firmly thanks to the special system of foundations, columns and supports of the architect and constructor Nikolai Nikitin. The premises of the physical, chemical and biological faculties were built as separate buildings, forming an entire campus. The general style in which the buildings were erected is called the Art Deco variant, the “big style” or the Stalinist Empire style.

The building looks grandiose: a tall spire, bas-reliefs, a giant warrant, expensive materials, luxurious stucco molding. Inside it was supposed to place everything necessary to ensure autonomy - mail, canteens, hairdressers, shops, etc. Around the construction of Moscow State University there are a lot of legends. It is believed that somewhere in the Main Building there is even an underground passage and a bomb shelter, an entrance to the express metro (in the area of \u200b\u200bzone “B”).

the Russian Academy of Sciences

The scale of the building of the Russian Academy of Sciences is also impressive. Its construction took 16 years - from 1974 to 1990. In terms of the building, it resembles two towers that stand nearby. They are surrounded by low outbuildings included in a single ensemble. The complex is decorated with an intricate golden composition with a clock on top. Now on the upper floors of the RAS building there is a concert hall and an expensive restaurant with panoramic views.

Subway

In 1959, the first open station of the Moscow Metro Vorobyovy Gory was built in this area. It is located on the Luzhnetsk bridge over the Moscow River. The construction of the station was fraught with significant difficulties and numerous errors; the station was closed for large-scale reconstruction. Now it is one of the stations most beloved by Muscovites: succinctly decorated, spacious, bright, with a panoramic view of the city. This is the station with the longest hall in the Moscow metro, and temporary exhibitions are periodically held in its glassed lobby of the station.

Activities on the Sparrow Hills

In the summer, spring and autumn, the Vorobevy Gory Nature Reserve lays wooden paths to several springs and organizes "ecological" routes for walking. You can book a tour, feed the animals (there are special vending machines for the sale of feed).

In the Moscow Palace of Children and Youth Creativity (ul. Kosygina, d. 17) there are many different circles and sections. On the territory of the complex you can ride a hill, rent bicycles, tubing.

To look around the capital, relax, take spectacular photographs - these are just part of the opportunities that the Vorobyovy Gory offers, one of the most picturesque places in Moscow and one of the most spectacular points of the city. Although they do not reach the real mountains in height, they can clearly see Moscow from a glance. However, the place was famous not only for its viewing platform - on the Sparrow Hills there is a picturesque nature reserve and the building of Moscow State University.

Attractions Sparrow Hills

Perhaps the main factor in the popularity of the Sparrow Hills is the observation deck with the widest panorama of the city. It allows you to see Moscow from an unusual angle, serves as a venue for photography and concerts. It is clear that there are many tourists here at any time of the year.

The observation deck was equipped simultaneously with the construction of the new main building of Moscow State University in the middle of the 20th century. It is located on the highest point of the Sparrow Hills and overlooks the Luzhniki Stadium, the highest residential complexes and skyscrapers in Moscow, the Ostankino TV tower, and the Foreign Ministry building. For “Luzhniki” you can see the bell towers of Kremlin cathedrals and the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Thanks to the observation deck of the Sparrow Hills, one can observe how the face of Moscow is growing and changing year after year.

Panorama of Moscow from the Sparrow Hills.

The territory of the Sparrow Hills is occupied by a nature reserve, founded in 1998. On the north side, it is bounded by the Moskva River embankment and stretches from Gorky Park on one side to the Third Ring Road on the other. Several hiking trails with a total length of almost 2 km were laid through the reserve. Also in the park are beautiful Lesnaya, small and large St. Andrew's Ponds.

Since some areas of the reserve are difficult to access for recreation, he managed to maintain significant biodiversity. There are dozens of bird species (including rare ones) and more than 400 plant species. Of mammals, proteins, moles and shrews are found. The reserve has the opportunity to go on a thematic tour with a visit to secluded trails and ponds.

On the Sparrow Hills there is the Trinity Church, on the site of which a wooden church stood in the 15th century. The new building began to be built in the Empire style in 1811. The church survived during the invasion of Napoleon and in the Soviet period. Its interior and appearance remained unchanged.

The facade of the temple is decorated with a fresco depicting Saint Alexis healing Queen Taydul. In another fresco, Sergius of Radonezh is depicted with Dmitry Donskoy during the blessing of the Battle of Kulikovo. In the Trinity Church shrines are kept, among which are icons of the 17th century.

Trinity Church on the Sparrow Hills.

In the 70s, a monument to Herzen and Ogaryov appeared in the forest on the slope of the Sparrow Hills, from which revolutionary ideas arose as a young man. It was at this place during a walk that they vowed to fight the autocracy and continue the work of the Decembrists. On the monument you can see bas-relief portraits of Ogaryov and Herzen, as if facing each other. He became not only a symbol of the revolutionary movement, but also a sign of fidelity to his oath.

The Sparrow Hills have long been a favorite vacation spot for guests of the capital and Muscovites. At the foot of a steep slope there are two embankments of the Moskva River: Andreevskaya and Vorobyevskaya. The promenades are quite popular for cycling, skateboard and roller skating. The promenades have wonderful walking areas where you can rent bicycles. You can sign up for excursions of different durations or ride a river bus.

In winter, life on the Sparrow Hills does not freeze - ski slopes open. Around December, runs for cross-country and downhill skiing, open a snowboard park, organize sleigh rides. The entire infrastructure is attached: instructor services and equipment rental are available.

The building of Moscow State University on the Sparrow Hills

The main symbol of the Sparrow Hills remains the magnificent building of Moscow State University, surrounded by a magnificent park. This is an architectural example of the mid-20th century, the construction of which began at the initiative of Stalin and was completed in 5 years - a record time for those times. The building itself and all its sculptures are attributed to objects of cultural significance. Inspection of the building of Moscow State University can be combined with a tour of the adjacent botanical garden.

Vorobyovy Gory - photo

The observation deck of the Sparrow Hills is one of the best places for photographing the views of Moscow. Note that for shooting (and just for observation), you should choose the morning hours and a little windy weather - in these cases the haze will not spoil the magnificent picture.
